SFP is located in Kensington Prairie Community Centre, home to the city’s South Surrey/White Rock Early Years Centre where families can access local parenting and child care resources.
As a registered charitable society and a member of the Canadian and B.C. Associations of Family Resource Programs, we believe in the five core principles of practice: family support, play-based learning, early learning & literacy, parent education & learning, and information & referral.
SFP drop-in programs provide a safe and fun environment for parents/caregivers and their children to connect through play. Our play space includes toys, equipment, dress-up, and art supplies for developing fine and gross motor skills and for imaginative play; program facilitators often make fresh play-dough or flubber for sensory engagement; and we offer a daily circle time with stories, songs, and puppets to encourage early literacy. Little ones can also enjoy physical activity, such as riding trikes and playing with balls and hula hoops, during scheduled gym, playground and field times.
SFP is dedicated to helping families navigate the journey of parenthood, and supporting the healthy development of children. Program Facilitators are trained and experienced in Early Children Education development, and knowledgeable in local resources and services. We also invite community experts in postpartum health, literacy, infant and child development, and more to answer questions and provide information. Brochures, referrals and a community resource library are available on-site.
