Semiahmoo Family Place is a non-profit family resource and drop-in centre that has served young families in South Surrey, White Rock and neighbouring communities since 1991.

Our drop-in programs provide a safe and fun environment for parents/caregivers and their children to connect through play. We have a play space with toys, equipment, dress-up, and art supplies for developing fine and gross motor skills and for imaginative play; our facilitators often make fresh play-dough or flubber and lead a daily circle time; and we rent the adjacent gym a few times a week so little ones can be active by riding trikes and playing with balls and hula hoops.

SFP is located in Kensington Prairie Community Centre, home to the city’s South Surrey/White Rock Early Years Centre where families can access local parenting and child care resources. Our community supporters include our partners at Kensington Prairie: The City of Surrey and Alexandra Neighbourhood House.

We are a registered charitable society and a member of the Canadian and B.C. Associations of Family Resource Programs, and as such we believe in the five core principles of practice: family support, play-based learning, early learning & literacy, parent education & learning, and information & referral.

SFP is supported by a volunteer board of directors. Our programs are made possible thanks to continuing support from:

  • BC Community Gaming Grants
  • BC Ministry of Children and Family Development
  • Choices Market in South Surrey
  • Soroptimist International of White Rock
  • United Way
  • Success by 6
  • Peace Arch Hospital Foundation
  • The City of White Rock
